Employers

If you are an employer who is willing to hire and train a new employee who is registered with us, you may be eligible to negotiate a wage subsidy through our service for reimbursement of a percentage of your new employee's wages for the first several weeks or months of employment.  The training can be direct "on-the-job" training, or can involve you sending the employee to formal (institutional) training to help your business, or a combination of both.  The wage subsidy itself, however, is reimbursed only on the employee's wages, not on the direct costs of formal training you may put the employee through.

Even if you don't have a specific employee in mind, or a specific job opportunity immediately open, you can still pre-register your business with us by filling out the  Wage Subsidy Application Form and sending it in to us.  This does not commit you to hire anyone; however, it does speed-up the process slightly should the time come when you do have a position and an eligible candidate that you want to hire!

Employer Eligibility

Generally speaking, we are looking for employers who have been in existence for at least one year, are fully licenced and registered with appropriate government authorities (ex. Canada Revenue Agency, WorkSafe BC, possess municipal or district business licence, etc.), are willing to provide on-the-job training to a new employee to build marketable workplace skills, and can provide the potential for long-term employment for the new employee.  Employers must be willing/able to provide a minimum average of 30 hours per week to the subsidized employee.

IMPORTANT!
Please be advised that we cannot negotiate wage subsidies for employees already working for and earning wages with you, or for new employees who have not been formally referred by an EI-funded Case Management Agency.  Please refer to the "for Work Seekers" page for information on how to determine if a potential employee is eligible to be employed under a wage subsidy agreement, or contact us for more information.
