If you are looking for work and are currently on an EI claim, have had a regular EI claim within the last 3 years, or have had a maternity or parental EI claim within the last 5 years, you may be eligible to work for an employer who receives a wage subsidy from us on your behalf.
In order to register and "market" yourself to employers as being eligible for a wage subsidy, you must be formally referred to us by a Case Management Agency in your community. Once we receive the case manager's referral, we will determine your final eligibility and will contact you to confirm your registration. We will also provide you with tips and strategies on how to enhance your job search by marketing your eligibility for a wage subsidy to employers.
If you are already in contact with an employer who is willing to hire you under a wage subsidy agreement, we still need to ensure that the employment opportunity meets some of our criteria to be able to provide a wage subsidy. For example:
If you are interested in enhancing your job search through registration with our wage subsidy program, please follow these steps:
First, contact the Case Management Agency in your community and make an appointment with an employment advisor. Second, discuss your situation with your employment advisor to determine if the wage subsidy program is your best course of action (there may be other services or activities that are more appropriate for your employment goals). Finally, if you and your employment advisor agree that the wage subsidy program will meet your goals, s/he will send us a referral, and we will contact you and get you on your way!
